2023 in review - what I gained and lost!

4 min read

So here's a short recap of what I was upto this past year 2023. And I also give a tentative plan I have in mind for what to expect for my viewers and supporters in 2024.

My youtube channel saw steady growth in 2023 with

  • ✅ 27 more videos uploaded

Subscribers till now: 3363 (and counting)

Plans for 2024

For 2024, I plan to continue posting more Angular tutorials with some really exciting ones which’ve been brewing in my mind (hint: full stack dynamic form builders) and more content related to the newest Angular 17 updates!

My blog got a bit stagnant due to the focus on YouTube in the early part of 2023. But that didn’t affect the organic search traffic much until I migrated (a bit abruptly) to NextJS from Wordpress. That and the recent Google algorithm updates has caused quite a big hit to the organic search traffic. Still I managed to get

  • ✍️ 11 new posts published

  • 📈 80,600 organic clicks

  • 👁️ Total 1.4 million impressions

  • 🆕 Migration to NextJS as a SSG with dedicated section on my courses, client projects and a more customized branded site

Plans for 2024

For 2024, I plan to reorganize my site and will be converting it into a more helpful learning hub for Angular developers (both beginners and experienced) with

  • dedicated pages for my free youtube courses where you can directly view them without leaving the site
  • dedicated video pages (as advised by google) so it’s easier to search my videos on my own site as well
  • a special section on Angular code snippets/tips to make it easier for beginner developers to get commonly used bits for their projects

📽️ Paid course (through Udemy)

At almost the end of the year, I managed to publish my first paid course on the Udemy platform based on but more useful than my “Angular Firebase Authentication” series on YouTube. It is getting good initial enrollments and reviews and I’m grateful for all of you who initially signed up for it. Till now it has got

  • 🧑‍🎓 27 students
  • ⭐ 4.7/5 rating with 5 reviews

Plans for 2024

For 2024, I’ll be working on more such paid courses with especially two topics I’d like to cover:

  • Responsive UI layouts with Angular
  • State Management with Angular Component Store

And I’ll be learning a lot and incorporating a more interactive teaching style while I create these courses so that students can get the most out of them!

🍵 Building Community

Buy me a coffee page

I started more seriously using “Buy me a coffee” to allow supporters and viewers of my content to donate a small amount if they enjoyed my content on Youtube/elsewhere. I also made available the complete source code for some of my YouTube free tutorials for a token price as a digital download - for those who were only interested in the final product.

Plans for 2024

For 2024, I’d like to introduce a more direct way for my viewers to support me in my content creation efforts with some small monthly subscriptions to make this journey more sustainable for me - so that I can dedicate more time to content creation (which I love!).

Nothing is fixed as yet, but those who’re subscribed will get benefits like priority answers to questions and advance previews of what I’m working on for my next tutorial/video among other benefits.

Verdict on 2023

So all in all, it was a productive year for me especially when it comes to content creation. I’m enjoying this more and more every day and will continue to build bit by bit.

Thanks for being with me on this journey for 2023 and I hope you enjoy what I have in store for 2024!

Onwards and upwards 🤞
